Match the tube to both your wheel diameter and your tyre width — a 700x23C tube will not survive stretched into a 700x38C tyre. Check your valve type too: Presta is the narrow one with a lock nut, Schrader is the wider car-style valve. Butyl tubes are the reliable default, and carrying a spare beats relying on a patch kit alone.
