Chains

Chains are speed-specific: a 12-speed chain is narrower than an 8-speed and won't run properly on the wrong drivetrain, so check your speed count first. After that it's finish — basic steel is cheapest, coated chains resist rust longer. A chain is a wear part, and replacing it before it stretches saves your cassette and chainrings from wearing with it.
